TOOLMAKING

Tool making has been at the core of R&S Budds Ltd. activities since the company’s foundation, providing tool making mainly to local businesses. In the early days of R&S Budds Ltd many of our customers still had their own drawing offices and many also had their own tool rooms but our positive attitude and flexible working often meant we were asked to undertake much of their work. More recently the trend has been to down size or remove drawing offices and tool rooms from many companies. Generally we now find many of our customers ask us to come and view a problem or an idea they have for us to design and manufacture a solution. We are happy to do this and more information on the design side can be viewed in the “Design” section of this website. Much of the tool making work we undertake is assembly type production jigs and fixtures. Often these are made to locate customer’s components simply and easily before other operations are carried out such as riveting or welding. Other tool making type work we undertake is the manufacture of press tools and injection mould tools. We have manufactured many cropping and piercing tools for the window industry as well as multi stage progression press tools for the electronic industries.
